Slice, 2014
ceramic, cement, cardboard,
electric cords, grass, light, thread,
sound, water, repurposed objects
Slice is an excavation that starts with using tools
of the conscious in order to enter the mind space of the unconscious. Easy and relatively identifiable materials
turn into a staged setting of the abstract.
I believe it is in the realm of abstraction that the mind can function
in its true state of being. It is my
hope that I have created and shared a space that is inquisitive, critical and
allows for mystery to exist.
Slice functions on several dichotomies; for example, life and
death, the fertile and the futile, tending and neglecting, the organized and the
impulsive, the abandoned and the protected as well as the manipulated and the
organic.
